There is something incredibly satisfying about having a jar of homemade crackers ready in the kitchen.
These simple seed crackers are crisp, flavourful, and wonderfully versatile. Enjoy them with cheese, hummus, soups, salads, or simply on their own when you feel like something crunchy.
One of the things I love most about this recipe is how easy it is. With just a handful of ingredients and very little preparation, you'll have a batch of homemade crackers that keep beautifully and are perfect for busy days.
Healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's simply about having simple, homemade options ready when you need them.
Ingredients
1 dl sunflower seeds
1 dl flax seeds
1 dl pumpkin seeds
1 tbsp psyllium husk
2.5 dl boiled water
0.5 dl coconut oil
Sea salt, to taste
Optional spices of choice
Method
Preheat the oven to 150°C.
Boil the water.
Add the coconut oil to the hot water and stir until fully melted.
In a mixing bowl, combine the sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, psyllium husk, sea salt, and any optional spices.
Pour the water and coconut oil mixture over the dry ingredients.
Stir well until combined.
Leave the mixture to sit for approximately 10 minutes, allowing the psyllium husk to absorb the liquid and thicken.
Shape and Bake
Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Spread the mixture out as thinly and evenly as possible.
The thinner the mixture, the crispier the crackers will be.
Use a pizza cutter or knife to score the mixture into cracker-sized pieces before baking.
Bake for approximately 50 minutes.
Remove from the oven and carefully separate the crackers.
Transfer them to a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely.
Storage
Once completely cooled, store the crackers in an airtight container or cookie jar.
Nina's Tip
These crackers are easy to customise.
Try adding herbs, garlic powder, chilli flakes, or your favourite spice blend to create different flavour variations.
They're also wonderful served with homemade dips, soups, and salads.
