If you're looking for a simple homemade drink made with fresh, warming ingredients, this traditional Indonesian Jamu Juice is a wonderful recipe to have on hand.
Made with ginger, turmeric, lime, and a touch of maple syrup, it's vibrant, refreshing, and surprisingly easy to prepare. Whether you enjoy it warm on a chilly day or chilled straight from the fridge, it's a lovely addition to your everyday wellness routine.
One of the things I love most about this recipe is its simplicity. Just a handful of ingredients simmered together to create a flavourful drink that can be enjoyed throughout the week.
Healthy living doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's the small daily habits that help us feel our best.
Ingredients
5 dl water
50 g fresh ginger
1 tbsp curcumin powder (or 80 g fresh turmeric root)
Juice of ½ lime
1 tbsp maple syrup
Method
Add the water to a saucepan.
Slice the ginger and add it to the pan.
Squeeze the lime juice into the mixture.
Add the curcumin powder (or fresh turmeric) and maple syrup.
Stir well and bring to a gentle boil.
Reduce the heat, cover with a lid, and simmer for 10–20 minutes.
Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
Strain through a fine sieve or colander into a clean glass bottle or jar.
Once completely cooled, store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy approximately ½ dl per serving, or pour into a small shot glass if preferred.
